There Was Always Work To Be Done...
At the Buckeye Furnace there was always work to be done! My brother, Don Craig, was the site manager for a number of years. Whenever we came to visit we would always jump in and help with work projects. The John Deere Tractor did a lot of the heavy work for us, whether it be gathering firewood, mowing the grounds or removing huge amounts of wood from trees that fell down form major wind and rain storms. We helped re-build fences, painted fences, painted the Iron Master's Shop, cut and gathered fire wood, mowed huge areas on the grounds, worked in the garden and etc. This was a very special time in our lives with some of our fondest memories !
We still feel those days in our hearts. We drive South once in awhile to visit! You should check it out! It's a wonderful way to spend a day with your family, take a pic-nic and enjoy the park! Check it out on the Ohio map...Located in Wellston, Ohio...Just outside Jackson Ohio. Take a step back in time, enjoy the sites and experience the Buckeye Furnace State Memorial! You'll be glad you did!
