Death Valley & The Titus Canyon Road Trip

On our trip through Death Valley it was such an incredible experience to drive the Titus Canyon Road!  You have to have nerves of steel to make this trip.

It's a 4 wheel drive access road, one way in and one way out!  The road is really an old river bed that has been gouged out by massive amounts of rain and flash flooding!  It is advisable to make sure your vehicle is in good sound shape before attempting this 26 mile adventure!  Plus its imperative to check the weather before you venture out to make this drive!

You enter into a canyon that after awhile starts a steep climb up and over roads that don't seem wide enough for anything more than by mull or horse!  Everyone is sure to be grabbing for their seat-belts and holding on while looking down into the canyon while you drive upwards!

The drive through the canyon is spectacular and the "Narrows" just before you drive back into the valley are canyon walls on both sides that rise to several hundred feet above you cut out by flash floods!  Once you make it through the Narrows it sets you out to a breath taking view of Death Valley!

No words could express how incredible this road trip was!

Mammoth Lakes California

From our road trip out of Death Valley we headed West to the California Coast!  On our way we drove into the mountains and to Mammoth Lakes.  Breath taking was only the beginning of this drive where the scenery was so gigantic, we felt how small we are as humans!  The mountain tops were covered with snow, the air so crisp and clean, the lake water crystal blue, our spirits soared from the sights we took in!

Big Sur California Coast Hwy 1

After we took Mammoth Lakes in, we headed further West.  We made our way to Hwy 1,
the coast highway running North and South along the California coast.  We came out around Sacramento, California and began our trip South to Venice Beach.

The highway is mostly 2 lanes with some of the most spectacular scenery you could ever imagine!  The road has been cut out of the mountain sides to make it possible to travel!  The feeling of being up so high and looking at all that wonderful ocean below you is an exhilarating experience!
