"Shaker Tradition Sweeping Brooms" - Hand Made By Gary & Carol Davis - Pulling Us Back In To A Time Gone By - These Artist Have Given New Life To A Functional Broom Making Machine. While Talking With These Artist, We Had The Opportunity Of Hearing About The History Of How They Came About Making Brooms. It Seems That Years Ago, Gary Davis Lived On A Farm With His Family. One Day His Father Was Clearing Items Out Of His Barn And Directed His Son, Gary Davis, To Throw The Old Broom Making Machine Over In To The "Holler" To Get Rid Of It. Gary Requested That They Hold On To The Machine, One Day He May Want To Learn How To Use It. They Held On To That Machine, Gary Met Another Broom Maker Years Later And Over Time Taught Him How To Operate The Broom Making Equipment. Once He Learned The Craft He Perfected It And For The Last 6 Years, He And His Wife Have Been Crafting These Wonderful Hand Made Brooms. "J.W. Everal - Rosedale - Homestead"
"Everal Barn And Homestead" included in The National Register of historical places, was named for one of the earliest families to settle in the area of Westerville. Everal Farm - was named - "Rosedale Farm", after J.W. Everal's rose garden. John Everal discovered a large clay deposit and established the, "J.W. Everal Company", in 1872. The brick and tile used for the farm house, carriage house and other out buildings at Rosedale were fired in the Everal kiln. Peak output of the plant reached 25,000 bricks per day. In 1973, the city of Westerville's Historical Society applied for a National Historical Site designation and received it in 1975.
